Description
Max provides a variety of ways to represent pitches.
We have already learned about Max's integer number
box object. We can use Max's Inspector (Object
> Inspector) to change a number box's display style
from 'Decimal' to MIDI (C4). This patcher also
demonstrates Max's kslider and nslider
objects. The former provides an onscreen keyboard,
whereas the latter provides a traditional grand staff
for notating of pitches in real time. In the patcher
above, both objects are set to 'monophonic' mode by
default. Using the Inspector, both objects may be set
to 'polyphonic' mode so that all keys currently held
are shown in real time.
